About Rust Pop Watch
Every five minutes we check the public Rust server list, so the who's-up, who's-down column stays honest.
The in-game browser tells you a server's name and how many are on it right now. It doesn't tell you whether that number is climbing, slipping or a one-night wonder after a wipe. That is the gap Rust Pop Watch fills: we take Steam's public Rust server list, with the names, player counts, queues and tags each server publishes, and we keep the numbers so you can read the story in them.
Some servers answer direct queries too, for map seed, FPS and entity count. Plenty don't, so for those you'll see only what Steam publishes. Everything on the site comes from those two sources, refreshed every five minutes: live player counts, population history, wipes and wipe schedules, ranks and status per server. Ranks lean on players over the past week, hour by hour, so a server that stays busy all week sits above one that packs out for a single evening. A steady crowd beats a one-off spike.
Ordering follows player numbers, never payment. Nothing here is for sale to servers, and no operator can buy a better line. Rust Pop Watch is independent and built by Rust players. We are not affiliated with Facepunch Studios, and nothing here is endorsed by them. Server names, descriptions and images stay with the people who run those servers.
If a number about your server looks off, the fix is usually in the server's own settings, and corrections appear within about five minutes. If it still looks wrong after that, write to hello@rustpopwatch.world. For advertising, see our advertising page; for anything else, the contact page. How we handle data is set out in the privacy policy, and use of the site in the terms of use.
You asked, we answered
Where does Rust Pop Watch get its server data?
From Steam's public Rust server list, which carries each server's name, player count, queue and published tags. Some servers also answer direct queries for map seed, FPS and entity count, and those details appear where available. Anything a server doesn't publish simply won't show.
How often are the numbers updated?
The list is read every five minutes, so player counts, wipes and ranks move close to live. If you change a setting on your own server, the correction usually shows within about five minutes. If it still looks wrong after that, email hello@rustpopwatch.world.
Is Rust Pop Watch run by Facepunch?
No. It is an independent site built by Rust players and has no affiliation with Facepunch Studios. Nothing on the site is endorsed by them, and server names, descriptions and images belong to the people who run those servers.
