Worth knowing

The picture is simple and a bit lopsided. Europe hosts most of the players, North America the rest, so ping should be your first filter. On wipes: about half of the servers with enough history only reset at the monthly force wipe; the rest publish a schedule, wipe irregularly, or run short map resets every few hours. The Next wipe column counts down to the next reset, with a tilde marking an estimate and a hover for the basis. Group limits are mostly the default max 8, so any solo or trio tag is worth a second look. Gather rates are rarely stated, which usually means 1x; a few advertise 3x. Maps are often smaller than vanilla.

What counts as a primitive Rust server?

These are servers running Facepunch's own Primitive game mode, which strips out guns and leaves bows, spears and melee. A server can still be official, community or modded underneath; the mode only governs the weapons. If a server calls itself primitive but keeps firearms, it is not running this mode.

How many players are on primitive servers?

Fewer than you might think. The whole scene is about thirty servers and most sit empty. The live counts above refresh every five minutes, so you can see where the players actually are. A handful of servers carry almost all of them.

Can I play primitive with a small group?

Group limits on these servers are usually the default max 8. A few set a tighter cap, and those are tagged solo or trio when the data says so. Check the group column before you commit.

When do primitive servers wipe?

Roughly half of the ones with enough history only reset at the monthly force wipe. Others post their own schedule, wipe irregularly, or reset the map every few hours instead of a full wipe. The Next wipe column shows the countdown, with a tilde where it is an estimate.
